Programming Certificate

The objective of this certificate is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for employment in entry-level positions in the field of computer programming or to continue to pursue a four-year degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science. The Programming Certificate indicates the student has acquired knowledge of computer programming including basic language structures, syntax, debugging, and application development.

A student receiving a certificate in this field will be able to:

  •  Apply appropriate logic, tools, and processes to write software programs.

  • Apply appropriate analytical techniques and computational tools to solve programming problems or explain why they cannot be solved with the tools provided.

  • Apply their solutions to verify that they effectively solving a computer programming need and identify situations in which the solution will not work. They also document their solutions and are able to explain their work from different perspectives.
